Big news for "Titanfall" players - the game's sequel, "Titanfall 2," may be much further into production than most people realize.
According to KpopStarz, an official announcement about the game, including new details and a release date, may be coming within the next few months. As well, their report claims the game may be released next year.
This may seem a little hasty, but we don't know for sure how far "Titanfall" is in its development, so let's not rule anything out just yet.
The game, which allows players to battle online as street-running foot soldiers, and to engage in battle as giant mech robots, is an enormous success for the Xbox One, but Electronic Arts (the studio who now owns the rights to "Titanfall") may want to bring their game to the largest audience possible.
And that means more than one console. At the blog Vyralize, it's been predicted that the game will, in fact, be available on PS4 (they describe it not as an "if" situation, but a "when.") For profit, obviously, but also because EA set this precedent with the "Mass Effect" series, which was ported in a similar manner.
They do back up their findings with a disclaimer - it is still possible that "Titanfall 2" will remain an Xbox One and PC exclusive. But at this point, it doesn't seem very likely.
However, another report by KpopStarz describes those who play "Titanfall" on the Xbox One as "cringing" over the idea of a PS4 port. If EA does go through with the port, we may see some sibling rivalrly emerge amongst Xbox and Playstation "Titanfall" players.
Which is nothing new- fans tend to shore up sides and debate each other hotly in console wars for every console generation. But system-exclusive games are big deals in the great (and slightly ridiculous) console wars, so a "Titanfall" port might cause some serious backlash.
But also serious money for EA.
Check back soon as the release date for "Titanfall 2" approaches.
