Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon Separated Months Ago; Cannon's Cheating Triggers Divorce

By

One of the bigger couples to split up recently are Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon- rumors have begun to surface that the couple actually separated months ago, in May, and that it's only now that they've begun moving along the divorce proceedings in a serious way.

International Business Times has a new report that the two have already hired divorce lawyers; at the stage, it's all but certain that their marriage is over. According to the piece, the reason it's taken them so many months to go from separation to divorce is due to the couples' property and custody issues- both of which require serious negotiation in any split.

But more important still are the reasons why these two are no longer together. And there are many, many reasons. TMZ dishes on all kinds of trouble in their marriage- most notably, Cannon's cheating, which apparently is a regular occurance, even happening with Kim Kardashian of all people.

Carey, meanwhile, contributed in her own way- TMZ claims she's belittled Cannon over how much money he makes (a little ridiculous, considering his earnings are in seven figures), and that she cannot take any form of criticism.

Sounds like typical damaged marriage stuff to us.

Celeb Dirty Laundry also covered the Carey/Cannon split, adding a new detail that's especially strange. According to their sources, Carey hired a bodyguard for the sole purpose of keeping Cannon away from other women. Only with a celebrity divorce could something like that ever happen.

However, it might not be just Cannon doing the cheating. According to IBN, Carey might have her own string of infidelities going on- "All this cavorting around with handsome men has Nick seeing red," said one of their sources. "He's about at the end of his rope with Mariah."

Check back soon for the latest on the Cannon/Carey split.
