The highly-anticipated miniseries "American Horror Story" has unveiled a haunting new art poster which serves as the public's first look of Season 3's "Freak Show."
Hypable took notice of the exclusive look showing the main characters of "Freak Show," and the poster offered massive spoilers in the series. One of the most interesting characters in the upcoming "AHS" season by fans is Sarah Paulson's mind-blowing character. Paulson will be portrayal the roles of both Dot and Bette Tattler, conjoined twins with separate identities. Paulson, with her two heads and one body, is seen in the poster sitting high above the rest of her castmates. Kathy Bates, who has hounded us in "Coven" as the racist Madam Delphine Lalaurie, is unrecognizable as the bearded lady. Aiding Evan Peters, who will play Bates' son in the season is also an unrecognizable Michael Chiklis, whose signature mustache and animal print, one-shoulder onesie would have fans deduced that he would be playing a strongman in the show.
Jessica Lange, who is said to be on her last season in the series, looks young and youthful in her silky dress and feathered boa as the German expat who would be running one of the last freak shows in America. Angela Bassett is also seen in the show in period attire beside Bates.
Executive producer and creator Ryan Murphy spoke of "Freak Show" in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. He told the site, "At every freak show, you have the tropes but there's some [that are] unique and weird," "It's about something: It's about outcasts and how society at that time ... true stories about circus performers who were cast aside. The story in many ways dovetails with Asylum, because they leave one era and you can see many of them in real life were put into asylums. There's a great symmetry we've come up with that's rewarding."
Absent in the poster is the show's version of Edward Mordrake, an Englishman who lived around 19th century who was reported to have two faces. Mondrake's condition is said to be due to a congenital disease named "Diprosopus."It remains a mystery as to who would be playing the role, although Entertainment Weekly said that Matt Bomer's inclusion in the series might be because of the need to play the "warped" character as described by Murphy himself.
"American Horror Story: The Freak Show" premieres on October 8 on FX network.
