Here's a rumor you don't hear every day: Jennifer Lawrence, who plays Mystique, the shape-shifting, disgused mutant in the "X-Men" films, may be giving birth on-screen in the next film- "X-Men: Apocalypse."
Here's what we know so far. Enstars published a piece about Mystique, and how in the comics, there was a long and important birthing arc about her and her son, who in the comics is the teleporting mutant Nightcrawler. They also speculate that "X-Men: Apocalypse" would be the idea film to re-introduce her son into the younger X-Men world (NIghtcrawler already appeared in "X2: X-Men United").
Here's the issue, though. The new "X-Men" films and the older ones are all connected to each other, thanks to "Days of Future Past." And given that Nightcrawler wasn't Mystique's son in the original films, would it even make sense for him to be her son in the new ones?
Well, according to Bryan Singer, who's directed a number of "X-Men" movies, including "X2" and "Days of Future Past," Nightcrawler is likely to be a big part of the upcoming "X-Men: Apocalypse."
Here's what Singer told Entertainment Weekly:
"I'm excited because I want to start introducing familiar characters at different ages and also explore the '80s."
Nightcrawler is a familiar character, and if he's born from Mystique in the movie, he'd be quite young (again, a "different [age]").
So if he shows up, he might, in fact, be Mystique's son.
Air Herald also confirms the idea of Nightcrawler in the next "X-Men" movie, but adds that so far, all we have to go on is speculation. There's been no confirmation, officially, one way or the other regarding Nightcrawler.
All we can do now is wait. Check back soon for the latest "X-Men" updates; hopefully soon we'll get an official word on Nightcrawler.
