NBA 2014 Trade Rumors: Ray Allen not rushing his decision about his future; Clippers, Cavs, Spurs, and Wizards waiting

With the 2014-15 regular season drawing near, Ray Allen has yet to decide whether he wants to play or retire. A couple of contenders including the Los Angeles Clippers and Cleveland Cavaliers and the defending champions San Antonio Spurs wants his services but the best 3-point shooter of all time is not rushing his decision.

Hartford Courant quoted the player during a break in the Citi Ray Allen Basketball ProCamp at East Granby High on Saturday morning, who said, "I'm not in any rush [to make a decision]. I've played 18 years, and the way I look at my career, I'm content with everything that I've done. I just want to take this summer and see how it goes."

Allen is also reportedly being courted by the Washington Wizards, who "would prefer to keep their 15th and final roster open but they'd quickly change gears for Ray Allen," according to CSNWashington. The team acquired Paul Pierce, Allen's former teammate in Boston, via free agency. Adding another veteran shooter in Ray Allen could prove a tremendous boost for the Wizards, who are quickly climbing the ranks of the Eastern Conference.

At 39 years-old, Allen can still play one more year in the NBA, and there is no shortage of team for him if he decides to play. He could also retire with no regrets knowing that he has accomplished everything the he has ever dreamed of playing in the NBA. James Herbert of CBS Sports added, "Allen's a future Hall of Famer, and he's won two championships. He has nothing to prove, but there are several contending teams that would love to have him. If he'd rather hang out with his family for now and see how retirement suits him, those teams would probably still want him in February or March. The 39-year-old keeps himself in excellent condition, and he's not going to forget how to knock down 3-pointers."

Whether Allen will play one more year or retire and join the ranks of the NBA's Hall of Fame some day, remains to be seen. But if he does decide to play one more, a lot of teams will surely be competing for his veteran leadership and clutch shooting. For now, the Clippers, Cavs, Spurs, and Wizards will have to wait as Allen weighs his decision for the future.
