After the recent release of Windows 8.1 update, it seems that Microsoft aren't pulling any breaks soon. A screenshot published on CNBeat.com revealed that Microsoft China accidentally leaked the Windows 9 teaser on its Weibo account. The post has since been removed.

Microsoft hasn't confirmed anything just yet, but several insider sources had said that the company is aiming to reveal a "technology preview" of the product, according to this article by Zdnet. Its upcoming OS, codenamed "Windows Threshold," aims to further improve performance and further bridge the gap between PC, tablets, and other mobile devices.

Most sources said that Microsoft is aiming to undo what caused the mediocre sales of Windows 8, such as the Charms Bar, and bringing back the Start menu with along with new features as said in this article by WinBeta.

As for the release date of Windows 9, there have been multiple rumors on when exactly will Microsoft do it. Well-known Windows blogger Paul Thurrot has said on his site that Windows 9 would most likely be released on April 2015, which is only 3 years after the release of Windows 8. In the same article, Thurrot also revealed that Microsoft want to look past how most critics and users view Windows 8 as a commercial and critical failure.

At the moment, Microsoft appears to push Windows 7 users to upgrade, as the company recently updated the End-of-Life chart for Windows OS.

The company wrote, "End of support refers to the date when Microsoft no longer provides automatic fixes, updates, or online technical assistance. This is the time to make sure you have the latest available update or service pack installed. Without Microsoft support, you will no longer receive security updates that can help protect your PC from harmful viruses, spyware, and other malicious software that can steal your personal information."
