Last night saw the season finale of "Bachelor in Paradise," ABC's latest "The Bachelor" spin-off (this time, on a tropical island- if the name didn't clue you in).
And like all "Bachelor" finales (well, all "Bachelor" episodes, really), there was love, heartbreak and a wacky blooper reel.
Reality TV Magazine has the details. On the last episode, we started with six couples- Marcus and Lacy, Cody and Michelle, Sarah and Robert, Tasos and Christy, Graham and AshLee, and Zack and Jackie.
But before long, the finale had taken its toll, and three of the couples had split up. The three remaining were Marcus and Lacy, Cody and Michelle, and Sarah and Robert.
But as the episode lingered and the couples were forced to dig deeper into their relationships, Sarah and Robert also called it quits. That left just two for the big finale.
Even that, however, contained a surprise- not only did Marcus give his final rose to girlfriend Lacy, he also gave her a humongous rock of a wedding ring (lucky for him, "The Bachelor" and all its spin-offs provide proposing men with free giant diamonds). She said yes, of course, and the two walked off into the sunset a happily engaged couple.
Speaking to TV Guide, here's what host Chris Harrison had to say about the finale:
"It was probably the best two hours we've produced in the last five or six years. It had everything: the drama, the ridiculousness, but also the reality of a couple like Sarah and Robert. What happened there was emotionally so awkward and off. She was so spot-on in dumping him and getting out of the situation, but she wanted it so bad she second-guessed herself."
However, it wasn't so dreamy for viewers on the East Coast- according to Hollywood Life, the East Coast feed of "Bachelor in Paradise" was pre-empted by "Monday NIght Football," and didn't air until 1:30 AM.
Disappointing. Unless you're a football fan who was badgered into watching "Bachelor in Paradise." Then it was probably pretty great.
