"Criminal Minds" is almost setting their ninth year anniversary soon on September 22; and as time passes by, the series' tenth season spoilers are getting massive attention from all of the show's fans.

Season 10 is set to put additional mysteries surrounding its show's return to primetime television beginning on its first episode. The latest would be about Thomas Gibson, who plays Aaron "Hotch" Hotchner in the show. It has been suggested that the actor would be doing double duties in the show as he is said to have directed one episode for the 9th season. In a Twitter photo by the show's official social media account, the image showed Gibson on the set. The caption was more telling about his role in the photo, which read, "Director #ThomasGibson backstage with #CriminalMinds Crew on EP 10x06 Day 7 of 8."

Meanwhile, the mystery behind the text message that Hotch received during Season 9 will be explained in the upcoming season. As revealed by both Gibson and and "Criminal Minds" exeutive producer Erica Messer, the text message is important and they have affirmed by both Gibson and Hotch on separate interviews, as reported by Enstarz.

In other news, A new special agent, Kate Callahan, portrayed by Jennifer Love Hewitt, will be introduced on Episode 1, entitled "X." The premiere episode would reportedly begin in Bakersfield, California, where the team is set to investigate another murder case.

Christian Post quoted Messer, who said about Kate's new role in the team, "You don't see her doing something you don't see our team ever doing. [She has to] sit there and pretend to like a criminal."

Also, "Dawson's Creek" actor Kerr Smith has since been announced to play a criminal in the show. Air Herald said that his character in the upcoming season will be of a criminal who has extreme fetishes with amputated limbs and amputees. This was not considered unusual in the show, considering the fact that it has been dealing with criminals who have weird fetishes and are involved in bloody cases.

On the other hand, Messer said that something bizarre will shock the viewers once the show returns via its first episode. She added that she and her team had been working on something in the production room with regard to characters and they have came up with something "big" for fans.

"You see that there is a bigger thing going on. It'll be a big case we touch on again midway through the season ...We have our own little shortcut in the [writer's] room [when it comes to a name], but we haven't landed on anything yet to put it out there," she said.

"Criminal Minds" Season 10 will return on October 1 only on CBS.
