NBA Rumors: The Cleveland Cavaliers looking to add Lou Amundson and his low-post defense for the coming season

By

With the return of LeBron James in free agency and the acquisition of Kevin Love from the Minnesota Timberwolves in a block buster trade deal, the Cleveland Cavaliers is shaping out to be one one of the most interesting teams heading into the 2014-15 regular season. The Cavs already have a solid core in James, Love, and Kyrie Irving and all the team needs is some good quality pieces and they are set for a deep run in the playoffs. To bolster their front court, the team is reportedly working out a deal for Louis Amundson this offseason per Hoops Hype:

Louis Amundson worked out for the Cavs last week, source tells HoopsHype. Cleveland one of the teams he's considering for training camp.

Louis Amundson is no Kevin Love and he is not the type of player who can fill the score sheet when he gets his minutes in the court. He is, however, a terrefic low-post defender and an energy guy off the bench which makes have a valuable member in any team's rotation. The Cavs are also loading up on veterans and lack bigs and Matt Moore of CBS Sports believes that Amundson will be servieceable whether he sticks with the team long-term or not.

From Bleacher Report:

The veteran is someone who knows his role and would fit in perfectly with a star-studded roster like the Cavaliers. While it is not a move that will turn a lot of heads, this could end up making a difference over the course of the year.

The Cavaliers are still looking to add pieces that would help LeBron James and Kevin Love win an NBA tile in the coming season and Luois Amundson is a guy that would really help the Cavs in more ways than one. And while James, Love, and Irving would certainly be a huge part of the team, it is often the llittle-known contributors like Amundson who make an impact in the regular season and in the playoffs.
