NBA Rumors: Chicago Bulls, L.A Lakers seeks to sign Michael Beasley this offseason; Miami Heat declares departure is 'definite'

By

Fee agent forward Michael Beasley is still searching for a team that he can call home with the NBA's scheduled training camp drawing near. But if recent rumors are to be believed, the Chicago Bulls might just be the next destination for him according to Sportige:

The Bulls don't have a lot to lose by bringing in Beasley to camp. He's the kind of player they might be missing on the team. He can score on his own and won't have a problem coming off the bench, giving the Bulls yet another scoring option on their improving offense. His defense isn't what Tom Thibodeau usually likes, but there's training camp to work on it and gain an impression.

Beasley made a return to the Miami Heat last season, his first NBA team which drafted him No.2 overall in the 2008 draft. The Heat, however, were apparently not interrested in resigning him according to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald who revealed that Michael Beasley will "definitely" not return to the Heat.

The Los Angeles Lakers, meanwhile, have worked out Beasley twice this summer but no deal has been made so far. Although no contract was offered, the Lakers were pretty impressed with Beasley's performance in both workouts. The only problem was that the Lakers only had the league minimum to offer and Beasley reportedly wanted more.

The main reason why the Heat declined to offer Beasley an extension despite his immense potential is because coach Erik Spoelstra lacked trust in his ability to play consistent defense and was discouraged with his immaturity. Defensive lapses and immaturity aren't excactly welcome in Tom Thibodeau's Bulls but if their is a man who can rehabilitate Michael Beasley's career, its got to be Thibodeau. If Beasley buys into Thibodeau's mantra of hard work and effort, then he could surely make a decent career in the NBA. If he doesn't and turns out to be the Micahel Beasley that the NBA has grown accustomed with, don't be surprised to see him playing in Europe by the time the season begins.
