Is Reign Dance Productions director Abby Lee Miller playing favorites in the reality competition "Dance Moms"? The controversial dance instructor has managed to raise suspicions from both parents of the children contestants and fans of the show after posting a new Instagram update featuring Mackenzie Ziegler. Mackenzie is the younger sister of YouTube darling Maddie, who broke out on YouTube after dancing in the music video of Sia's massive hit "Chandelier," Enstarz noted.
According to Miller, Mackenzie would be shown in a new Christmas video, and that the little dancer is currently filming in Los Angeles. One of the photos showed a dolled-up Mackenzie with a caption that read, " #christmasallyearlong is the new single by #mackz produced by @therealabbelee and @alogan322. She is sassy and stunning on camera! So proud! #aldc #dancemoms."
Further fueling accusations of plagiarism was Miller's decision to cut Chloe Lukasiak in last week's episode of "Dance Moms." The International Business Times said that Chloe's foot injury was used as Miller's decision to bench her and appoint her bitter rival, Kamryn Beck, as the replacement to dance at the annual recital of the studio. Chloe's absence at the recital guarantees that she will not have a shot to perform at the nationals.
"Each team member will perform a solo, except Chloe. Kamryn will actually be performing," Miller was quoted as saying.
The episode also showed how moms of the contestants have clashed with Abby more than the number of occasions tallied per episode in the series. Zap2It summed it nicely as follows, "his isn't an entirely new phenomenon, but the proximity to Nationals forced the tensions up notch on the viewing couch. To properly track the in-fighting happening in the studio this week would take a bulletin board the size of a truck and countless amounts of string and push-pins, but there were a few major spats that took up the majority of the episode."
Meanwhile, Melissa Gisoni, who is mom to Maddie and Mackenzie, defended Miller's decisions on the show. She told In Touch Weekly, "It bugs me. I know that it's really hard to the other girls when Abby pays more attention to me. It's true, they don't get as much attention. But, I don't think it's right for the other moms to talk bad about me or behind my back. It hurts my feelings. And watching them yell at my mom, it makes me said."
