Google's Nexus 4 was released in November last year and has impressed both consumers and critics alike for its reasonable price and amazing features. But what exactly makes it a great smartphone? This quick review will delve into why exactly getting a Nexus 4 is a good investment.
Specifications
First off let's talk about the Nexus 4's specs. When it was released back in November of last year it boasted great features like 4.7" screen with 1280x768 pixel resolution @ 320 ppi. It was also relatively small and light with a weight of 139g and size dimensions of 133.9 x 68.7 x 9.7mm. It had an 8 MP front and 1.3 MP back camera. When it came to its internal memory you could choose either an 8GB or 16GB version. It's CPU which was the Qualcom SnapdragonTM S4 Pro 1.5GHz was also amazing in terms of processing power and comparing it to other more expensive smartphones released at the time.
Other features include:
- Wi-Fi capabilities (802.11 a/b/g/n)
- Wireless charging compatibility
- Bluetooth
- Micro USB
- Slimport HDMI
- 3.5mm headphone jack
- GSM/EDM/GPRS (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz)
- 3G (850, 900, 1700, 1900, 2100 MHz)
- HSPA+ 42
- Unlocked GSM/UMTS/HSPA+
- Features a 2,100 mAh non-removable battery which has up to 250 hours of standby time, 10 hours of talking, 40 hours of playing music, 8 hours of video playback, and 7 hours of web browsing
- Android Jelly Bean 4.2
Now that the specs are out of the way, let's get to the reviewing part of this article. As you can see the Google Nexus 4 boasts powerful and amazing features and specs from its 4.2 Jelly Bean OS, 4.7" screen, and of course it's very affordable price tag.
But it still has some downsides including memory which isn't expandable, only 5 home screens available, no 4G capabilities, no flash capabilities (although this is mostly Adobe's problem), and somewhat decent but not that great of a camera.
With that being said, the Google Nexus 4 is a great mid tier to budget phone for those looking for something in between something really cheap and low profile to a casual phone you could use for travelling or at home.
And as a last note, Google also decided to upgrade the OS of this smartphone with the KitKat 4.4 so that is also another great thing about the Nexus 4.
