First Trailer for "Ray Donovan" Season 3 Hints at Big Surprises to Come, Series Creator Leaves the Show

By

The second season of Showtime's "Ray Donovan" barely wrapped a week ago, and already the network has a promo ready for the third season.

It's not much- mostly, the clip is a composite of a few scenes from the last two seasons, with a voiceover adding "'Ray Donovan' will return for a third season." So while it doesn't necessarily tell us anything we don't already know about "Ray Donovan" (we've known about its third season renewal for a little while), it's pleasing to know Showtime is keeping "Ray Donovan" awareness at a high level.

However, Showtime is shaking things up for the next season of "Ray Donovan." Acording to Christian Today, series creator Ann Biderman is not going to produce the show, as she has for the first two seasons. Instead, she's be sticking around as a consultant- nothing more.

David Nevins of Showtime explained the change-up in a press release.

"Ann Biderman is a uniquely gifted writer and creator. She has done great work on Ray Donovan from her very first pitch through the first two amazing seasons. Ray Donovan has become a signature asset for Showtime, and Ann will continue as a creative consultant on the show. We look forward to continuing our relationship with her."

What we don't know yet is how the series will change in its third season. All we know is what happens at the very end of season two. And star Vinessa Shaw as a few choice words to say about the explosive finale last week, which she told The Wrap.

"As per last season, 'Ray Donovan' is really good at making something huge happen by the end of the season, and this is exactly what is going to happen," Shaw said during the interview (above). "The unexpected is going to happen, and people are going to have...something happen to them."

Check back soon for the latest on "Ray Donovan" and its third season.
