The release of the new Xiaomi Mi3 from the company currently dubbed by industry pundits as the "Apple of China" had gotten everyone else excited over a low-cost, high-end smartphone. Since its debut last year, CNet said that the smartphone was a real threat to the other mid-segment phones of some of the biggest mobile companies in the market today.
Design/Aesthetics
Know Your Mobile wrote that compared to the Moto G and the Asus Zenphone 5, Mi3 is clearly the star thanks to its metallic finish and sleek body lines. Based on its look, it has a flattened back panel and sharp edges that clearly distinguished itself as a high-end smartphone. The phone also showcases a 5-inch display at 1080x1920 pixels with a 441ppi pixel density and is surrounded by the slightly thinned Bezel. The capacitive keys are placed underneath as a standard in all high-quality phones.
Hardware/Software
Considering the fact that Xiaomi is relatively a baby in the mobile industry since its debut in 2011, it was quite impressive how they were able to come up with better-looking, high-tech phones retailing on a budget. Mi3 currently uses its own Android OS called the MIUI with an internal storage capacity of 16GB, which is not bad, CNet said. The Fuse Joplin said the Mi3 is packed with a powerful 2.3 GHz quad core Snapdragon processor, 2GB of RAM and Adreno 300 graphics, which is great for users who wish to play games on their phones. Its main camera shooter is at dual LED 13MP, and is also installed with a 2MP front camera as well.
Battery Life
When compared to other phones, Mi3 is definitely a winner when it comes to its 3050mAh battery. Mi provides 25 hours talk time and up to 500 hours if on standby mode, GamerHeadlines.com said. Given the data, Mi3 is considered to be a far more better handset for the user than the iPhone 5s, which only offers 10 hours talk time and 250 hours on standby mode.
Pricing
KPopStarz said that Xiaomi is expected to sell over 40 million handsets this year, including the Mi3. Although purchase of the handset could only be done online, the company is looking to expand in other emerging markets apart from Asia, like the US. Retailing at less than $400 depending on your online seller, will we see a new king in the already saturated mobile market?
