If there is one thing Ellen Pompeo is so good about other than acting, it is keeping her private life a secret. The 44-year old Grey's Anatomy actress and mother of 5-year-old Stella Luna pulled another trick and it involves keeping the birth of her second baby under wraps two months after having her!
The actress first shared the news by posting a photo of husband Chris Ivery cuddling the bundle of joy with the caption "Sienna May Ivery welcome to the world. We love more than words can say." (via abcnews)
But how did the actress manage to pull this off and keep it a secret for months?
That was the exact question Jimmy Kimmel asked when Ellen visited his show for an interview recently. Pompeo explained that for her second baby, she and husband Chris decided to seek the help of a surrogate. The actress shared to USmagazine.com that she was there during the insemination process and even held hands with the surrogate mother who will remain anonymous.
"I looked into the microscope and I saw the embryo. I saw the baby... And then we held hands and we prayed, we talked to God, and if she was meant to be. He said he was going to try to help us out and now we have a gorgeous baby girl."
She went on sharing about getting a surrogate, "This is a[n] incredible thing to do with your life, to give the gift of carrying someone's child, so I am forever grateful and feel very blessed."
The Grey's Anatomy star also made a shout out to show creator Shonda Rhimes and the rest of her series family for supporting her. In another Instagram post, the blonde mother of two said, "Sienna was born via surrogate & I would like to thank my whole @ShondalandTV family for helping us enjoy these first few weeks privately."
This isn't the first time that Ellen was able to keep important details of her private like a secret. Back in 2007, she kept mum about her wedding for five days despite having the New York City mayor officiating the ceremony back then. People.com quoted the actress saying, "I've done it before. The covert thing is kind of fun."
Congratulations again, Ellen and Chris!
