Templar’s Creed: ‘Assassin’s Creed Rogue’ Opens a Dark Chapter in the Series on November 11

"Assassin's Creed Rogue" will open a dark episode in the history of the Brotherhood of Assassins when it comes out next month for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 platforms. This release will be in conjunction with the "Assassin's Creed Unity", which will serve the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles, as well as Microsoft Windows.

"Assassin's Creed Rogue" takes place in the middle of the 18th century during the Seven Years' War. The game will follow the exploits of protagonist Shay Patrick Cormac, an Irish-born recruit to the Brotherhood of Assassins who, according to Game Informer, begins to question and grows disillusioned with the Assassins' methods, cause and purpose just as his career with them begins.

When he was betrayed and abandoned by his fellow Assassins when an assignment went disastrously awry, he turned to the Templars and, Polygon reported, offered his services as an Assassin Hunter. With the Templars being a well-heeled organization, Cormac has access to exotic and almost limitless resources which he employs as he sets out to exact his revenge against those he once called brothers - an action that will have dreadful consequences for the future of the Assassins.

Polygon added that naval aspects will return. Players will control the Morrigan, Cormac's ship. Compared to Edward Kenway's Jackdaw in "Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag", the Morrigan has a shallower draft (i.e., the vertical distance between the waterline and the keel), allowing for travel in shallow waters such as bays and rivers. The Morrigan will also come with new ship-based weapons for ship-to-ship engagements.

Cormac's area of operation will be in North America. It will feature locations including the icy and frigid North Atlantic, the Appalachian River Valley, Alabama, New York, and Quebec, according to VG 24/7.

The events in "Rogue" will take place after the Golden Age of Piracy storyline of "Black Flag" and before the American Revolution in "Assassin's Creed III", and, as such, will have ties to the two previous games. According to IGN and Game Informer, previous characters will appear in "Rogue", including Haytham Kenway (Edward Kenway's son and Ratonhnhaké:ton's father), an antagonist in "Assassin's Creed III, and Adéwalé, a slave-turned-pirate who is Edward Kenway's quartermaster aboard the Jackdaw in "Black Flag".

"Assassin's Creed Rogue" is developed by Ubisoft Sofia and published by Ubisoft. It will be the eighth major installment in the "Assassin's Creed" series and is due to hit the shelves together with "Assassin's Creed Unity" (which is the seventh major installment) on November 11, 2014.
