Though Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev are not likely to get back together, their onscreen "Delena" pairing can't wait to be together again.
Ian Somerhalder's Damon Salvatore is trying to get back to Nina Dobrev's Elena Gilbert in the sixth season of "The Vampire Diaries," but things couldn't be farther from where they stand in real life. According to Fashion & Style, Dobrev cannot stand being around Somerhalder, even in character. This has led to rumors that the show will be ended this season, but while that's not confirmed, Dobrev's and Somerhalder's characters in the show will continue to be missing each other.
Dobrev has talked to Entertainment Weekly, sharing that Elena is dealing with Damon's loss in an "eerily deceiving and odd" way. Meanwhile, Damon is "trying his best to get back to Elena because he hates being away from her," shares Fashion & Style.
Somerhalder also said that Damon "will go through every length" to go home. Somerhalder and Dobrev's characters have been apart in season 6, which means lesser romantic scenes between the two, but according to the article, the tension between them could lead to problems in future episodes.
To add to the rift, Somerhalder has not been shy on showing his affection for current girlfriend Nikki Reed, who has once been close to Dobrev and who is now allegedly a constant presence in the "Vampire Diaries" set, shares Mail Online.
Just recently, Somerhalder posted an Instagram photo of him and Reed with two dogs, where Somerhalder thanked Reed for her charity work. "Thank you for giving so much of your life and for being a strong voice for those whom can't speak. My hat is off to you. You amaze me. Love, Ian," said his caption. In his post, Somerhalder mentioned Reed working with Gilt for the benefit of ASPCA.
The article reveals that Reed and Somerhalder has been friends for a long time and have even gone on double dates with Dobrev and Reed's ex-husband, Paul McDonald.
