According to multiple reports by gaming and tech sites, the Shiny Gengar distribution is underway via the Pokémon X and Pokémon Y in the US and Canada. Beginning October 13 to the 26, fans of the video game franchise will be able to pick up a Shiny Gengar character in GameStop stores, Siliconera.com reported. It has been said that the character, which comes with the Sludge Wave move, will be holding a Mega Stone that will allow gamers to Mega Evolve Shiny Gengar. Gamers are said to be able to use a Mega-Evolved Genger to Shadow tag its opponents to prevent them from switching out or fleeing during battles.
Siliconera adds that as soon as the Gengar promo expires, GameStop will begin to distribute another Pokemon character called a Diancie, which is a gray, dress-like shaped character with a headdress made of pink crystals. The said Pokemon will be then transferred to the upcoming Pokemon games, Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, and that gamers will be able to Mega Evolve it just like the Shiny Gengar.
Meanwhile, Venture Beat wrote that the Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire will be bringing a brand-new flying video game mechanic in the franchise. This means that gamers will be able to use the "fly" power for plays. This mechanic is initially allowed in moving to regions in the Pokemon games only. The site observed that the publisher, Nintendo, had paid homage to the old Gameboy Advance from the last decade, perhaps to entice older players to play the new games.
Joystiq also noted that the Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire releases, which will debut in the North American market on October 21st, will enable several Mega Evolutions of characters Latios, Latias, Pidgeot and Beedrill. The site notes that it currently has a directive to search for a demo ahead of the video games' launch that avid fans of the series could join.
