The Pokemon Company recently teased fans around the globe with a new project to be announced in August 26, GameSpot reports. The news, however, did not indicate as to whether the project is a new game version, a new anime, or manga.
The new project is described as "shocking," leaving fans speculating on what it could be. The news was announced through the official Japanese Pokemon website. According to the website, the big reveal will be made via a livestream on Nico Nico, in collaboration with Famitsu, a Japanese video game publication.
The stream begins at 10 p.m. JST (9 A.M. EDT) and will feature Tsunekazu Ishihara, president of the Pokemon Company.
Meanwhile, in the recent edition of Famitsu, it was revealed that the announcement is of a "very new development" for the franchise, describing it as something that could be "earth-shattering."
Some of the developments that are underway include the remake of the Pokemon Ruby and Pokemon Sapphire versions to be released this November. These upcoming versions are named Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire.
Moreover, fans are already excited to know what this new development could be and what is in store for them.
"Is it the start of a second main series? Is Pokémon re-tooling the core RPG? Will we finally get a Wii U game or a console addition to the main series?" asked PokeJungle. Fans online soon followed up with their predictions and expectations.
"First ever HD 3D Pokemon game, with unique open world," wrote simkenno.
"The only that I can imagine being ground-breaking is to introduce a new region and more new Pokemon in the middle of a generation," commented HeavyMetalFairy. "I don't know man, I have a strong feeling it's going to happen" he added.
"What I expect is a Pokemon game that plays like real-time strategy and open world, in 3D," answered regidudea. "Pokemon battles have always been turn-based strategy. Changing the core essence of Pokemon being turn-based to something else I feel is an 'earth-shattering' news," the commenter continued.
Meanwhile, the upcoming video game versions, Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, are confirmed new Pokemon named Mega Slowbro will be part of the game. It was previously confirmed that Mega Audino will also appear.
