Due to former EXO Luhan's lawsuit, SM Entertainment may not be able to fulfill its contract with movie distributor CJ Entertainment, The Straits Times reports.
Luhan, who filed a lawsuit late last week in an effort to end his contract with SM, is one of the cast members of "Mid-Twenties" (Zhongfan 20sui), a Chinese remake of a popular Korean movie, "Miss Granny."
While the controversial idol was scheduled to be on the set of the movie until late October, Luhan's filming may be stopped due to the lawsuit that he is currently pushing against SM.
Additionally, The Straits Times says in the same report that an industry insider who requested anonymity commented that Luhan's lawsuit "may pose problems for the movie." The insider also pointed out that joint film productions involving an international instead of a domestic partner are more likely to go through more complicated disputes.
The joint Korean-Chinese production released stills of Luhan and other cast members on the height of Luhan's lawsuit controversy.
The movie's official Weibo posted the stills, along with the message "Welcome home!" Fans were quick to speculate that the message is in response to Luhan's post saying he is home.
According to Allkpop, the "Miss Granny" remake is directed by Leste Chen and stars Yang Zishan, Kuei Ya Lei, and Bolin Chen. Luhan plays the grandson of the lead actress.
The website also wrote that the movie is scheduled to premiere in March 2015.
Meanwhile, recent reports claim that Luhan is currently in talks to star alongside Chinese actress Yang Mi in a drama titled "Zhu Xian." According to the report, the show's producers are seeking the former EXO member to act as the male lead.
There are no updates yet regarding the drama's final cast lineup. Filming for the movie will start next month.
Luhan has returned to his hometown of Beijing since the lawsuit was filed.
