The recent edition of SBS' "One Night of TV Entertainment" tackled the controversy involving Luhan's lawsuit against SM Entertainment. The show even interviewed lawyers to look into the legalities of the matter, Allkpop reports.
Lawyer Jung Yun Suk explained that what Luhan filed was a lawsuit to nullify contract conditions or terms that was binding him as a talent to SM Entertainment. The legal professional described the suit as one "with a very significant meaning."
When asked why the Chinese members of EXO are aiming for the nullification o their contracts in a consecutive manner, a critic mentioned speculations that "the breakaway of the Chinese members are occurring" because there was a precedent.
The critic was referring to former Super Junior member Hangeng who filed a lawsuit against SM in 2009.
As the reported noted, Hangeng, Luhan, and Kris (Wu Yifan) who left EXO in May, have the same law firm to represent their cases.
Lawyer Jun Yung Suk pointed out that Hangeng won the suit, so Kris and Luhan might feel confident with the same law firm to represent their separate lawsuits.
"However, if SM Entertainment had drastically modified their contract and got rid of the unjust conditions, then SM has a chance of winning the suit," the lawyer stressed.
Meanwhile, Chinese media outlet Ten Xu via Korea Herald reported that Luhan expressed his interest in starring in the Chinese drama "Zhu Xian."
Luhan reportedly told Yang Mi, a Chinese actress who is reportedly eyed to star in "Zhu Xian," that he wants a lead role in the drama. Yang Mi is best known for her role in the drama series "Palace."
While filming of the series will start next month, the drama's production has not yet revealed details of the casting.
Meanwhile, Kris, now professionally known as Wu Yifan, will be having his debut as film actor in the movie "Somewhere Only We Know." The former EXO member attended the movie's first press conference last month where he danced, sang, and answered questions from the press.
"Somewhere Only We Know" will be released next year.
