The 1st Pangyo Techno Valley Festival was held in Seoul, South Korea yesterday with world-renowned K-Pop artists performing live. At around 5 PM Korean Standard Time of October 17, while the girl group 4Minute was performing, a total of 27 concert viewers fell down a ventilation window which had a falling height of 10 meters (3+ stories).
Initially, two out of the 27 had died on the spot but at this time, a total of 16 have already passed away due to the acquired injuries. The remaining 8 are critically injured and in hospital care while the other 3 are also injured but recovering.
The managing company, CUBE Entertainment, has released an official statement regarding the tragedy. The company said, "There is no way to measure the amount of grief in our hearts... The members and staff didn't know what had happened during their performance and only learned of the accident on their way back to Seoul. We hope no more people are hurt because of this incident."
Investigative officials have immediately responded to the scene of the tragedy and the initial observation was that the victims climbed over the ventilation window which caused the structure to fall due to the weight of the people on top of it.
Currently there are no progressions regarding the condition of the remaining 11 injured victims but the Korean media outlets are eagerly waiting for any new updates about the case. A music video was reportedly postponed because of the said tragedy in order to reach out its condolences to the families of the victims.
