Bible epics are all the rage now- if it wasn't already clear from stuff like "Son of God," "The Bible," "Noah," and "Exodus: Gods and Kings." And the newest Bible-based production that's currently in development is "The Dovekeepers," an upcoming miniseries based off a 2011 novel (also titled "The Dovekeepers"), about a forced exile of the Jews from Roman territory. The miniseries is set to premiere sometime next year.
According to Enstars, "The Dovekeepers," will focus around four women in this tumultuous period in history- yet so far, all the social media presence for "The Dovekeepers" has been about its male stars.
The newest photo from the series shows off three of its leading men- Andrei Claude, Mido Hamada and Diego Bonita, all in official-looking period dress (that is, cloaks and tunics and armor, with plenty of scruffy-looking facial hair). The image comes from the Instagram account of "The Dovekeepers" actress and producer Roma Downey.
Downey added the following caption to the image, which can be seen above:
"Lovely Leading men from #thedovekeepers Andrei , Mido and @diegoboneta @dovekeeperscbs #deigoboneta"
Downey was also one of the producers on the hit Bible miniseries, "The Bible."
Hamada offered up another sneek peek of the series on his personal Facebook page. In new photos the actor posted, he can be seen looking quite powerful with a big bushy beard and Biblical battle armor, alongside his co-star Cote de Pablo. De Pablo will reportedly be playing Hamada's love interest in the series, as evidenced from a photo of the two of them, locked in a tender embrace.
After "The Bible" and now "The Dovekeepers" (assuming that "The Dovekeepers" Is as big a hit as "The Bible" was), expect more big-budget Bible series to show up on both the big screen and the small screen.
Check back soon for the latest news from the upcoming "The Dovekeepers."
