As a television series, "The Walking Dead" is a massive hit. But the series exists outside of the TV world, and Telltale Games' "The Walking Dead" game series is just as beloved by zombie fans.
The game, which plays like an interactive television episode and allows players to make their own choices for the characters, originally began in 2012, with Telltale Games releasing five small "episodes," consisting of the first "season" of the game.
Now, the second season is well underway, with the third of five episodes, titled "In Harm's Way," released back in May.
According to Job Stauffer, PR director for Telltale Games, the fourth episode, entitled "Amid the Ruins," will be releasing sometime in July. Stauffer posted this information in an announcement on his Twitter, saying:
"'Walking Dead' fans, thanks so much for your patience! We're expecting Ep 204 to arrive this month and should have news in the coming weeks."
A recent report detailed a major character may meet an untimely death in "Amid the Ruins." This is not uncommon for "The Walking Dead," as a major part of the game involves on-the-fly decision making, that usually spares the life on one character and sacrifices the other.
The game follows Clementine, a young girl removed from her parents by the zombie apocalpyse, and her struggle to find home and shelter amongst various bands of survivors, both good and bad. Clementine was also a major character in the first season of "The Walking Dead," although she was not the first game's protagonist. Occasionally, characters from the AMC series also make an appearance, but the game's storyline is not directly tied to the "Walking Dead" television show.
"The Walking Dead" has met with near universal acclaim, with overwhelmingly positive reviews from the gaming press.
