The New Orleans Pelicans Forward Anthony Davis has been a winner in the world of basketball. He won championships in college and won gold at the Olympics and in the FIBA World Cup. Now in his third year as pro, Davis has the opportunity to take his game to the next level and the leagues reigning MVP, Kevin Durant, believes that he has what it takes to become the next big thing in the NBA declaring that Davis is the "next in line", per USA Today.
"I know how good he is now, but I know how good he's going to be. He's an MVP-caliber player," Durant said, according to NBA.com in Team USA's training camp this summer. "So he's next. He's next in line - a guy that has grown so much in just a year. I'm excited to see what he does from here. He's definitely on pace."
And among the changes he's seen in the 21 year old Power Forward: "You can tell he's getting bulkier, getting bigger, more confident. You can tell he's working," Durant said.
Even a lot of GM's around the league have a lot of faith in Davis and his ability to become a formidable force in the NBA in his third year as a pro. In a 2014-15 GM survey conducted by NBA.com, 29.6% of the respondents believe that Davis will have a breakout year this coming season. They also ranked him as the third best Power Forward in the league behind LaMarcus Aldridge and Blake Griffin by a mere 4% of the total votes.
Davis also worked hard in enhancing his overall game this offseason. During Team USA's march to the FIBA World Cup title in Spain, Pelicans head coach Monty Williams, who served as an assistant coach for the national team, worked closely with Davis on addressing areas of his game that they wanted to improve going into the NBA season, per The Town Walk.
