Knicks Scouting Report:
After losing to the Washington Wizards on Tuesday, the Knicks are now 2-2 . The team's offensive woes have allowed them to score no more than 96 points this season and were shooting just 37 percent in their game against the Wizards. Carmelo Anthony, who is one of the NBA's leading scorers last season, has put up 46 points in his last two games but has struggled to score consistently. Besides Anthony, Amar'e Stoudemire and Iman Shumpert are the only players who are averaging double-digit points in the Knicks roster.
"Carmelo is trying to do everything he can to help us win right now. He's been patient offensively in terms of waiting for his spots and waiting for his opportunities," coach Derek Fisher said via NBA.com's game preview. "I think it got frustrating tonight for all of our guys not to be able to execute the things that we're capable of doing."
New York hopes to fix the different issues that they are facing on the offensive end once starting point guard Jose Calderon returns from injury.
Pistons Scouting Report:
The Pistons are still searching for their first win of the season and are playing the second game at home. Like the Knicks, the Pistons are also struggling offensively averaging a league worst 86.7 points on 40.2 percent shooting. Greg Monroe leads the team with 18 points and 11 rebounds, followed by Josh Smith who is averaging 16.3 points and seven rebounds. Andre Drummond, who had an impressive outing for Team USA in the FIBA World Cup tournament, is averaging just 12 points and 9.7 rebounds. The team is shooting the ball from beyond the arc at an abysmal rate 1 going 1 for 17 from 3-point range in their lose to Brooklyn.
"We've got the talent in place, we've got a great coach and coaching staff, got all the ability and drive to do it. Just keep playing, keep working hard and no excuses. No one's going to feel sorry for you. We've got more than enough in that locker room to win games. We're going to continue to move forward," veteran Caron Butler told the team's official website.
Detroit is the favorite in this match-up, laying -4.0 points here at home. The Total has been posted at Over/Under 189.0 per Pro Cappers.
