Kobe Bryant is happy with Jeremy Lin's performance against the LA Clippers even though they suffered a 111-118 loss to them in the postgame news interview documented on this ESPN blog.
In the interview Kobe says, "You have to be able to assert yourself, especially on a team I'm playing on." He goes on to say that, "Because I don't want chumps, I don't want pushovers, and if you're a chump and a pushover, I will run over you."
Kobe was impressed when Jeremy Lin's play with 5 minutes remaining on the last quarter and both teams were tied. Although most players would normally look up to Kobe for clutch plays, Jeremy had other plans and did a beautiful pick-and-roll play and scoring a much needed 3-point shot against Chris Paul.
"It's like, you've got to put your mark down, man", Kobe says during the postgame news conference. "At some point, you've got to piss on the fire hydrant", he adds. Bryant had 21 points on him with 6 out of 10 shooting from the field was impressed what Lin did and he hadn't seen him do that before back when Lin was in the Houston Rockets.
Jeremy Lin scored 17 points, 9 assists, and amazing plays in the game against the LA Clippers which was a very clear 180 degree change compared to the loss they suffered against the Phoenix Suns on October 30, 2014.
Lin had this to say after hearing Bryant's words of wisdom, "I'm like every other human. I'm going to be more comfortable, I'm going to do more, when I feel empowered." Coach Byron Scott was also noticeably impressed with Lin's performance during the match.
The LA Lakers are now have a 0-5 record but the team was really happy about it and considered it a moral victory and Kobe Bryant had this to say about it, "It felt really, really good. I couldn't be more pleased in this loss, actually. I think we figured a lot of things out, a lot of things."
Kobe, Jeremy, and the rest of the Lakers will be facing up against the Charlotte Hornets this coming November 10, 2014 and we'll get to see if they will finally get a much needed win.
