NBA Rumors: Cleveland Cavaliers no longer in pursuit of Ray Allen; Chicago Bulls on the verge of signing the veteran shooter?

By

The Cleveland Cavaliers are no longer in pursuit of the veteran sharp shooter Ray Allen according to Marc J. Spears from Yahoo! Sports and Sam Amico from Fox Sports Ohio who revealed that the Cavaliers will not be using their open roster spot to sign Allen. It was made apparent that the 39-year old Allen will no longer play alongside his former Miami Heat teammate LeBron James in Cleveland when the Cavs filled the remaining slot on their 15-man roster by signing point guard Will Cherry.

While the move won't surely thrill Cavaliers fans, it does make sense given the direction that the team is heading. The team is already stacked with shooters and there isn't a lot of minutes to go around with the Cavs rotation and Allen probably sees that.

So does this mean that Ray Allen is headed to another team? That might be the case given that the Cavs, who where considered as the top destination for Allen, have already given up on the veteran shooter. Allen has also been spotted in the Windy City on Wednesday according to Marc Silverman of ESPN 1000's "Waddle And Silvy," creating speculation that he might soon be signing with the Chicago Bulls. Besides, what would Allen be doing alone in Chicago anyway if it weren't related to his decision about his future in basketball?

But if the Bulls are really on the verge of signing Ray Allen this season then that means bad news for some one in their roster named Tony Snell, per Fansided:

If they do add Allen, that can't be good news for Tony Snell. I like what Snell has been able to do in his action in the early season. he has been able to get on the floor more than we had thought with the injuries to Jimmy Butler and Derrick Rose and he has performed nicely.

The Bulls were one of several contenders that expressed interest in Allen this summer. If Allen is bound for Chicago this season, then he'd certainly make what many consider the East's top contender even more dangerous.
