If you saw the CMAs last night, the last thing you probably expected was celebrity baby news.
Yet celebrity baby news we all received: after joking about Carrie Underwood's pregnancy in a monologue with her co-host, Brad Paisley, Paisley accidentally let slip the gender of Underwood's baby.
It's a boy!
Time Magazine has a transcript of the opening joke that accidentally blabbed Underwood's secret to the world.
"We're pregnant," Paisley joked, later pleading with Underwood to "please just tell me what we're having." Underwood then whispered the sex of the baby in Paisley's ear.
But later, when the two were talking about Garth Brooks, Paisley spilled the beans, remarking "we could name him Garth." Thus, the baby was revealed to be a boy.
Underwood's response: "What are you doing? You kept that secret for a whole two minutes."
According to ABC News, Paisley later joked about the hashtag "#bradblewit," which he's begun tweeting since then.
Who knew when Underwood was planning to actually announce her baby's sex (for all we know, it could have been later on in the CMAs), but now that the secret's out she's been embracing the media coverage. Fashion & Style report that Underwood hasn't tried to deny or downplay any rumors since then, and allowed the official CMA twitter account to post about her baby as well.
The "Jesus Take the Wheel" singer is married to Mike Fisher, a Canadian ice hockey pro, and their child (who will probably not be named Garth, but you never know) is the child's first couple. They're expecting the baby to come at some point next spring.
Hopefully there's nothing more that Paisley can blab about this baby before he arrives in the world.
