Samsung Galaxy S6 Release Imminent as 'Project Zero' Surfaces with Possible New Killer Features

By

According to latest reports, Samsung will be releasing its Galaxy S6 handset soon with the company calling it "Project Zero" internally. Reports note that the upcoming flagship may come with 5.5 dual-edged display including 64-bit support and new processor. The question now is whether Samsung can provide a new killer device to turn things around.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 received praises but the company needs more to keep its position and contend with Apple's iPhone 6 and Xiaomi's increasing dominance. As 2014 comes to a close, Samsung approaches another primary point of its timeline: another major flagship release. The Samsung Galaxy S5 was released early this year, thus, the possibility of releasing the S6.

Android Origin reported that Project Zero may be Samsung's way of changing its mobile division to curb declining sales and make a comeback. Korean Herald also featured IHD Technology Senior Analyst, Jerry Kang. He said, "The Galaxy S6 to be released next year will feature a 'dual-edged' screen which is curved on the right and left sides."

The analyst discussed Samsung's plan to offer the Galaxy Note Edge with the curved display. However, this did not push through leaving the dual edge orientation behind. It may now come to fruition with the Samsung Galaxy S6. According to NDTV, Samsung's sales continue to suffer because of lack of innovation.

Some of the expected specs of the device include 2560 x 1440 resolution, either a Snapdragon 810 or Exynos 5430 processor, Exynos Modem 333, Bluetooth, LTE, WiFi and GPS according to WCCF Tech. Samsung has not released any statements about the device or its release. Nonetheless, if it will follow a similar timeline then the announcement and release should be around the first and second quarter of 2015. Analysts suggest that the company has to refrain from too many variants and focus in the same way Apple and Xiaomi have been doing to dominate market sales.
