K-pop fans will again see a special kiss performance in the upcoming "2014 Mnet Asian Music Awards" (MAMA 2014). This was revealed by CJ E&M's director Han Dong Chul in the awards show's press conference held in CJ E&M Center, Sangam-dong on November 17.
"We will be presenting kissing as a hidden performance this year as well," said the director. "I think you wanted to keep seeing it so we're trying to prepare a deep kiss performance. Please look forward to it," he added, making the attendees laugh.
The director also teased stage collaborations in store for viewers, Enews reports. "Many collaborations have been prepared," said Han Dong Chul. "There will be a collaboration between two male soloists and between a legendary artist and the hottest soloist of 2014. Many girl groups promoted this year so there will be a collaboration involving a sexy competition between girl groups and dynamic collaboration performances of boy groups have been prepared as well."
KpopStars noted that during the past years, the award show have surprised viewers with on-stage kisses during collaborations stages. Idols who made headlines during their MAMA performances include Big Bang's TOP and Lee Hyori, 2PM's Nichkhun and Ivy, and 4Minute's HyunA and BEAST's Jang Hyunseung.
According to another report, director Han also revealed that foreign artists send love calls to Mnet Asian Music Awards. Regarding their interest in MAMA, the director has this to say, "It's an award ceremony where they get judged and receive awards so of course Korean artists look forward to participating."
"What the production team was surprised about is that many times, artists from the United States and Britain as well as from Asia ask us before we make our proposals," he shared. "Since starting it small in 1999, we put together the event year after year as a part of our tasks, not knowing that Mnet broadcasting station will get such a status as now. Now we think that we are making an award ceremony even for the foreign artists."
He added, "Things that we didn't even imagine of are happening in front of the PDs and in the world of K-pop so I'm both proud and shocked each year."
MAMA 2014, one of the biggest and most awaited music event in the K-pop industry, will be held on December 3 in Hong Kong's Asia World-Expo.
