JYJ’s Kim Jae Joong confirmed to make his small screen comeback as a genius analyst in KBS drama ‘Spy’

JYJ member Kim Jae Joong has been recently confirmed to star in an upcoming KBS drama titled "Spy." CJeS Entertainment, JYJ's record label, announced on November 26 that the singer-actor will be the male lead in the TV series, Soompi reports.

"Kim Jae Joong has been confirmed as the lead in the new KBS Friday drama 'Spy.' He will be portraying a genius analyst for the project," said the agency.

The idol will play Seonwoo, a genius analyst who is working for the National Intelligence Service (NIS). According to Enews World, his character analyzes information on North Korea and will show exceptional skills with quick judgments and level-headedness.

Kpop Herald noted that Jae Joong's return to the small screen has been receiving attention as it will be his first time to star in a KBS drama. He has made his acting debut on the small screen via SBS drama "Protect the Boss," and MBC dramas "Dr. Jin" and "Triangle."

It was also reported that a representative from the drama revealed that Jae Joong will act alongside senior actress Bae Jong Ok who will play as his mother, Hyerim, a former North Korean secret agent.

Actor Yoo Oh Sung will also be part of the cast. He will play a North Korean agent and ex-lover of Jong Ok's Hyerim. His character will reportedly have some conflict with Jae Joong's, creating a conflict in the story.

"Spy" is based on an Israeli drama titled "The Gordin Cell," according to Soompi. The series will incorporate family drama genre with the elements of a thriller story.

The 16-episode drama will start airing in January.

In other news, the JYJ trio is expected to attend the premiere of the upcoming movie," Big Match," an event SM Entertainment's duo, TVXQ , is also expected to grace on November 27. If this happens, this will be the first time the five original members of TVXQ will be seen together in one event since their split in 2009.
