Psy to release new album next year; YG clarifies the international K-pop star is not ditching previously revealed track ‘Daddy’

Fans of international K-pop sensation Psy will have to wait until next year to see him release a new album.

YG Entertainment announced on December 1 that Psy's single "Daddy," which was previously planned to be released this summer, has been postponed to 2015.

According to Soompi, a rep from YG told Sports News, "Psy is currently working on new songs, including 'Daddy.' As he will be working until he is satisfied with the songs, the exact comeback period has not been decided. It looks like his new album will not be released this year."

According to a previous report by Sports World, the globally famous YG artist has opted to drop the album including "Daddy" and restart working on a whole new one as he was not yet satisfied with what he had worked on so far.

However, YG Entertainment denied the report later, saying Psy did not get rid of the "Daddy" and is still working on the song, Daily Kpop News reported. "There are some reports that say Psy got rid of 'Daddy' but those are not true," a rep from the agency said. "He just decided to postpone it until he gets a result that will satisfy him. He even filmed some extras for the MV 2 weeks ago and is currently working hard to improve the quality of its music."

According to KpopStars, Star News stated that YG felt some updates were mis-communicated leading to rumors that Psy is ditching the album he has been working on.

An official from the record label said that upon the release of Psy's new album, the highly anticipated "Daddy" MV will also be released.

Since the news broke about this new song by Psy, fans have been waiting for its release, especially after it was revealed that the MV will feature special appearances by actor Jung Woo Sung, child singer-dancer Hwang Min Woo, and label mate and 2NE1 member CL.

The "Gangnam Style" singer announced earlier this year that his new song is slated to be released on August. However, he released "Hangover" featuring Snoop Dogg in June. The MV of the single revealed the word "Daddy" at the end, making his fans even more excited.

KpopStars noted that because of his busy schedules, working on his new album was pushed back. Psy had to leave for the YG Family concert and the Asian Games concert, among other activities.

He is also currently preparing for his upcoming "All Night Stand 2014" concert in Seoul on December 19-21 and 24, Koreaboo reports.
