The end of "Sons of Anarchy" is almost here. Last night was the show's penultimate episode- and while a lot of "Sons of Anarchy" fans might have expected the fireworks to come next week, this week's "Red Rose" was a massive episode, full of unexpected turns and the deaths of THREE major characters.
Killing everybody off in the second-to-last hour is all the rage now, anyway. Remember "Game of Thrones?" The "Red Wedding" did the same thing.
But in "Red Rose," things went absolutely insane (and at this point, we're getting into SPOILER territory, so turn away if you haven't seen "Red Rose"). Jax knows that his mother, Gemma is responsible for the death of his wife. And he's not going to let anything get in the way of confronting her- even as she's getting out of town as fast as possible (and, as reported by E! Online, with the help of secret guest star Michael Chiklis).
But Jax ends up finding Jemma (and so does Unser, but that doesn't last long- Jax shoots him dead), and after a long, drawn-out scene, pulls the trigger on his own mother. Elsewhere, Juice suffers a similar fate- finally being put down after episodes of suffering.
It's a tough scene in a tough episode (Jax breaks down before pulling the trigger, and Gemma has to talk him through it- that's heavy emotional stuff), but not everyone was loving it. Variety was extremely critical of how long the last few episodes of "Sons of Anarchy" have been- "Red Rose" clocked in at nearly double the length of the average TV drama- so while fans are certainly overjoyed that they get extra "Sons" before the show is over, not everyone sees it that way.
And as for the series finale- International Business Times has a synopsis for the final episode that claims Jax "strives to follow in his father's footsteps." They're guessing that means he'll try to take SAMCRO legitimate, as was his father's goal in the beginning of the series.
But we'll find out next week, won't we?
