'Witches of East End' ranking high on engagement ratings, Madchen Amick hints of possible good future; Can the show really survive its untimely death?

By

Despite the continued efforts to have the show "Witches of East End" on a different network a la "Longmire," the show remains in its cancelled state after running for only two seasons. However, the show is not a lost cause yet as it remains strong in terms of petitions and poll ratings.

The show has been cancelled because of the decline in its ratings, but according to Cancelled Sci Fi, ratings may not be the only thing that matters when it comes to television shows. In a poll conducted by the site, Cancelled Sci Fi says, "Interestingly enough two of the lowest rated shows ("The 100" and "Haven") are showing the most engagement based on poll numbers. So ratings definitely do not show the full picture."

To further prove their point, the site started a poll on November 23 about whether viewers preferred watching cancelled shows or those still showing. The poll will end on December 6, but currently, "Witches of East End" is at third place after "The 100" and "Dracula," another cancelled show. In fourth place is "Once Upon A Time," which is likely to be renewed. "Witches of East End pulls 22% of the votes so far, with 1,700 voters, which is a considerable distance from "Once Upon A Time" with only 13% (1,016 votes). On fifth place is "The Walking Dead," which has been renewed for another season. "Supernatural" comes next at 11%, "Agents of SHIELD," "The Originals," "Arrow," and "The Flash" at 9% voter ratings each.

It is worth noting that of the top ten spots, "Witches of East End," a confirmed to be cancelled show, has more votes than renewed or likely to be renewed shows.

Fans have not stopped gunning for the show's return through petitions and campaigns. Spoiler TV also mentions the show being backed be celebrities. Jenna Dewan-Tatum's (Freya Beauchamp) husband, Channing Tatum, along with other celebrities including Sarah Michelle Gellar, William Shatner, Snooki, and even Holly Marie Combs of "Charmed" have expressed support for the show.

Aside from fans, the cast of the show are also far from backing down. Rachel Boston (Ingrid Beauchamp) even asked Combs on Twitter if she would be up to playing with them if the show got renewed, and Combs replied positively.

The show's Madchen Amick (Wendy Beauchamp) also seems to have high hopes that the show will not be permanently ended yet. In her Twitter post, Amick posted a photo of the cast with a caption, "#Coven gathering... & we heard some promising rumors, all becuz of ur hard work! Keep it up #witchEEs theyr watching!!"

Currently, the petition on iPetitions.com shows 85,270 signatures. Amanda Cash, a commenter on the petition, even says she will boycott Lifetime if the show was not renewed.
