The recently concluded 2014 Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA 2014) proved it is one of the most anticipated music award events of the year. The show featured a number of performances that wowed the audience who went to the venue in Hong Kong, as well as those who watched via Mnet TV channels and streaming online sites.
The red carpet event was graced by performance by BTS, AOA, Fred Chan, and Block B.
The awarding ceremony was opened by Girl's Day and Ailee's stage titled "Last Fantasy." Girl's Day performed their hit song "Something" followed by Ailee who showed her excellent dancing and singing skills with her song "Don't Touch Me." The two acts then joined one stage as they performed "Problem" by Ariana Grande.
As noted by Koreaboo, the collaboration stage of American singer-songwriter John Legend together with Girls' Generation's Tiffany and EXO's Chen is one of the night's performances that was well-received by the audience.
In the special stage, which was titled "The Legend Continues," the globally popular guest sang "Green light" with Tiffany and Chen and then went on singing his hit song 'All of Me."
Another well-applauded part of the show was the stage of idol groups Block B and BTS, who are both known as excellent rap groups. Entitled "Fight of the Century," the act featured the leaders of the two groups, Zico and Rap Monster, singing portions of their respective songs, "Tough Cookie" and "RM." This was followed by the impressive "Danger" performance of BTS, "H.E.R" performance of Block B and the two groups joining to sing "Let's Get It Started."
EXO's stage, titled "The New Age of EXO" was another show-stopper. The 10-member group first performed "Black Pearl," followed by a heartfelt performance from lead singers D.O and Baekhyun singing "Tell Me What Is Love." This was followed by lead dancer, Kai's powerful dance performance of "Deep Breath." The act ended with an explosive performance of the idol group's hit song "Overdose."
The last performance of the night was reserved for Big Bang members Taeyang and G-Dragon's stage titled "Colorize." Taeyang started off with an exceptional performance of his hit song "Eyes, Nose, Lips," which was hailed Song of the Year. This was followed by the debut stage of GD x Taeyang who gave an energy-filled performance of their recently released song "Good Boy" and Big Bang's hit song "Fantastic Baby."
