"The Vampire Diaries" star Paul Wesley has been rumoured in the past few weeks to be leaving the series for good when his latest projects were announced according to Kpopstarz. It was said that he will start filming his latest projects next spring in two separate locations in Atlanta and Shanghai.
Paul Wesley said in his previous interviews with Tri-town News that he isn't certain whether The CW hit series will continue. He said, "I definitely think the show has another year in it. Past that, I don't know - I'm not sure. I don't know if the storylines work. I don't know if anyone's going to be around. It's such a hard thing to say, but I think the show has another year in it."
According to International Business Times, Paul Wesley temporarily said goodbye to his character in "The Vampire Diaries" last month when he filmed the episode, "Mother's Day". The movie drama is set to be released in 2015 and Paul Wesley will be acting with veteran actresses in the industry which includes Christina Ricci, Sharon Stone, and Susan Sarandon. Aside from this, Paul Wesley also has two other independent film projects.
Even though Paul Wesley is too busy juggling his time between the TV Series and his movie projects, the show must go on. "The Vampire Diaries" will air its final episode entitled "I Alone" for this year. Executive Producers Caroline Dries and Julie Plec hinted that one of the biggest stories will revolve around Stefan, the character played by Paul Wesley as reported by Cartermatt.
"The Vampire Diaries" Season 6 will return on January 22, 2015 with Paul Wesley directing the 11th episode of the series entitled "Woke Up With a Monster" as reported by Hollywood Reporter. This will be the second time that Paul will be directing in the series, his first directorial debut was "The Vampire Diaries" season five's "Resident Evil" episode.
