"Game of Thrones" Season 5 Spoilers: Who's Getting Killed Next Season? And Which Major Characters Have Been Left Out Entirely?

By

What exactly is happening on the fifth season of "Game of Thrones?" While past seasons have rarely strayed from the books (although the fourth one had some original material), it looks like the fifth season of HBO's megahit fantasy series may be setting out on its own, unrestrained from where George R. R. Martin has decreed.

Ecumenical News has claimed that the fifth season will most likely follow the last remaining Cersei storyline from the "A Song of Ice and Fire" novels- about her battling it out with Margaery Tyrell in King's Landing, and how this leads Cersei into a conflict with a growing religious movement. As well, they're speculating that a major death from the very end of the latest "A Song of Ice and Fire" novel, "A Dance with Dragons." But for spoiler's sake, we won't tell you just who it is that gets offed.

Meanwhile, the show has been busy filming scenes involving characters that barely had any mention in the novels- specifically, the Sand Snakes, the illegitimate daughters of character Oberyn Martell. While they were present in the book, they didn't do much of anything, but HBO seems to be intent on making them a very important part of the show's fifth season.

International Business Times has the news that both Keisha Castle-Hughes and Jessica Henwick have finished filming their roles as two Sand Snakes- Obara and Nymeria Sand, respectively. Reportedly, they've both been filming with the show for five to six months, meaning their parts are fairly noteworthy.

Meanwhile, Entertainment Weekly confirms from "Game of Thrones" showrunner Dan Weiss that Bran and Hodor and the rest won't be appearing in season 5- their stories are already too far ahead of everyone else, and the other characters need to spend a year catching up.
