The upcoming SBS' Gayo Daejun (Daejeon, in other English websites) on December 21 will see the debut stage of a new boy group composed of five idols from five of the most popular K-pop acts today.
Named as "Lucky Boys," the pin-up boy group will be composed of CNBLUE's Jung Yong-hwa, INFINITE's L, WINNER's Song Min-ho, 2PM's Nichkhun and B1A4's Baro, Kpop Herald reports.
"The team will work as a publicity group for 'Gayo Daejeon,' representing the pretty boys in the K-pop scene," said an SBS official said. "The group will emcee the contest and also there will be a special stage for it."
According to Koreaboo, SBS commented, "They are not only honorary ambassadors of Gayo Daejeon, but also representative of flower boy band project 'Lucky Boys.'"
In another report, the five idols will be gathered, as the show's "Super 5." On December 14, SBS Gayo Daejun announced that they are preparing a special project group. They also compared the new group to the sweet honey butter chips that are very popular snacks these days in Korea.
CNBLUE's Jung Yonghwa was the first to be revealed as the member of Lucky Boys. INFINITE's L was then confirmed to be joining the group as well. Third to be revealed was Mino of rookie group WINNER.
2PM's Nichkhun and B1A4's Baro were later revealed to be part of Lucky Boys as well. "Nichkhun and Baro will be the MCs of 'Gayo Daejun' and members of Lucky Boys," a rep from SBS told Newsen on December 15.
SBS producer Kim Joohyung took to his SNS account revealing what appears to be Lucky Boys' group logo. He also posted behind-the-scenes photo featuring Yonghwa. It was also revealed that ZE:A's Kwanghee was appointed as the manager of the group while M.I.B's Kangnam will be their stylist.
SBS' year-ender feature a series of events with the newly launched SBS Awards Festival to be held in Coex from December 20th to 31st. SBS Gayo Daejeon will take place on December 21st, SBS Entertainment Awards on the 30th, and SBS Drama Awards on 31st.
