FOX has given 'Gracepoint' the axe. After their first season, the fans might not just get the most out of the show as the network has finally confirmed the cancellation of "Gracepoint". What was the reason behind this appalling decision?
According to a report by Entertainment Weekly the mystery-drama won't get renewed for a second season due to low ratings. The report further stated that the remake of the UK drama series, Broadchurch only drew in 4 million viewers and a 0.9 rating among adults 18-49 for the show's finale on Thursday night.
The series thriller stars David Tennant ( Broadchurch) and Anna Gunn (Breaking Bad) as detectives working on a case investigating a murder case involving a young boy in a small town. According to the report, Gracepoint was viewed as a 'limited' series, so a second season was not seen in the future.
According to a report, 'Gracepoint' began with low ratings, and the ratings seemed to get worst as the series progressed. The last episode of the season became the season finale, as Fox network decided to quietly end the series, said TVLine.
According to UnrealityTV, the series was similar to some of the scenes from the original UK drama, but the ending was a whole different thing. Tennant will be returning to the original show as Detective Alec Hardy on February 4.
While the show [Gracepoint] won't be making a comeback to FOX, executive producer Dan Futterman has said that he hopes that the Shine America production company will be finding another home for the series.
In a recent interview, he said, "You know as much as I do at this point. Shine, there's been some changes at the company and so I don't know what the intention is to do with the programming that they've got."
