Will Floyd Mayweather ever step into the ring with Manny Pacquiao? People have been asking to see Mayweather vs. Pacquiao for years now- and so far, all that's come of it is a constant stream of speculation and disappointment.
But there's at least one person out there who's still got his hopes up: "Sugar" Shane Mosley, the boxer who's fought both Mayweather and Pacquiao before, losing to both (in 2010, he lost a 12-round unanimous decision to Mayweather; in 2011 he lost a 12-round decision to Pacquiao).
And Mosley thinks that Mayweather vs. Pacquiao is definitely going down, in the first half of 2015.
Mosley shared his thoughts with BoxingScene.com.
"I think the best fight would be Mayweather versus Pacquiao and I think that is the fight Floyd would be looking for. That is the biggest money fight and the fight the fans want to see once and for all and I think that fight is going to happen."
BoxingScene.com also reports that Bob Arum (who promotes Pacquiao) is speaking with Les Moonves, the CEO of CBS, the company that owns Showtime, the channel that Mayweather has a contract with.
We'll see if anything comes of those talks, and if Mosley is as clairvoyant as he sounds.
If it ever happens, though, it's bound to be HUGE- according to GMA News, an ESPN analyst claims that Mayweather vs. Pacquiao would be the most lucrative boxing match in history.
"I agree the fight is five years too late, they're not at their prime anymore and there is no doubt about that," the analyst, Teddy Atlas argued. "Having said that, if the fight is made it'll still be the highest paying fight in the history of the sport."
"The reason it'll be the highest paid fight of all time is because fight fans have been in the Sahara Desert with their tongue hanging out for so long that now they're ready to buy something, even if it is a mirage. They are past their prime, and [fans] are still going to buy it."
According to Latin Post, Pacquiao is more than willing to fight, but Mayweather's the one who's hesitant.
