SM Entertainment to launch world’s first hologram musical ‘School Oz’ starring TVXQ’s Max, SHINee’s Key, EXO’s Suho & Xiumin, f(x)’s Luna, and Red Velvet’s Seulgi

The biggest South Korean record label, SM Entertainment, is launching a hologram musical titled "School Oz" on January 14. The special musical production will be shown at the SMTOWN Theatre in Samsung-dong, Seoul, Enews reports.

The musical is a fantasy adventure production set in the magical world of Oz, with wizards, witches, and many other magical characters. "School Oz" tells the story of the search of a missing Dorothy who disappears a day before the "Great Knight" competition. The production will run for 110 minutes and will feature hit songs from SM Entertainment's artists.

The much-awaited special production, which is said to be the world's first hologram musical, will star TVXQ's Max Changmin as the magician Oscar, SHINee's Key as 'David,' f(x)'s Luna as the witch Glinda, while EXO's Suho and Xiumin will play Hans and Aquila, respectively. Rounding off the cast is Red Velvet's Seulgi, who will play Dorothy.

Girls' Generation's Yoona and Super Junior's Leeteuk will also be having cameo appearances. A sixty-second trailer was also released by the record label ahead of the premiere. The clip previews the interesting characters played by the K-pop idols but also the highly technical production featuring world-class visual effects.

Moreover, a hologram concert, "Girl Story" will also premiere on the same day as "School Oz," in the same venue. The concert will run for 45 minutes and will tell a story featuring SNSD's Yoona and SHINee's Minho and other fellow SM talents.

Tickets for both productions will be available on January 7 at 10 a.m. (KST) and can be purchased through the SMTOWN THEATRE app as well as the shows' official website.

Meanwhile, SMTOWN Theatre is dubbed to be the country's first multi-format theatre designed as a venue for hologram events, concerts and musical productions, according to Koreaboo. The Mwave report adds that the SM Town theater features high definition screens, a 40-meter long, 270 degree façade which surrounds the audience, and advanced production technology.
