Penny Dreadful Season 2 is just around the corner and it will return on air this year with new cast and plot that will continue the story where Season 1 ended.
The Showtime hit TV series ended Season 1 with Sir Malcolm, played by Timothy Dalton, deciding between to choose Vanessa Ives over his daughter Mina Murray. Vanessa, who is the female protagonist of the show and portrayed by none other than Eva Green, is the best friend of Mina and her confidant. She is seen as cursed being throughout Season 1 and as the season ended she sees her curse as a blessing which she can use to face the challenges of the upcoming season. Penny Dreadful Season 2 will feature new and old antagonists and the companions of Sir Malcolm and Vanessa Ives will face new evil while the past continues to haunt them.
According to KpopStarz, the creator of the show, John Logan confirmed that there will be an new intimate relationship that will bud between Vanessa Ives and Ethan Chandler, who is portrayed by Josh Hartnett.
An image of the series shows an intimate moment between Vanessa and Ethan which is subtle and tranquil considering that the show has a dark theme and full of blood and gore. Logan further added that "This season Vanessa and Ethan face new challenges, and old enemies, and turn to each other for solace. Their intimacy grows as they are forced to confront their demons together," Logan said in his Facebook page post.
Den of Geek reports that aside from the intimate relationship between Vanessa and Ethan, Penny Dreadful Season 2 will also show the development of a deeper bond of the camaraderie between Sir Malcolm, Dr. Frankenstein and Sembene as they confront and drive away the evil that threats to harm them. Dorian Gray, the Creature of Frankenstein and Brona will also be shown as they battle their own personal demons. There will also be a mysterious character, which will be portrayed by Patti Lupone, that will play an important role which is connected to Vanessa. Madame Kali, the spiritualist in the last season, will also pose a threat to the lead stars of the show along with other returning cast members.
'Penny Dreadful' Season 2 will be back on air this 2015 and fans of the hit TV series can expect more blood and gore as well as an exciting plot in this show set in the mysterious and darkest corners of Victorian London. Stay tuned for more updates on its premiere date!
