Dell launched a series of tablets and laptops just recently at the Consumer Electronics Showcase. However, it was the new XPS 13 that got the attention. The latest computer offering from Dell spans 13 inches featuring a 3200 x 1800 resolution display. It also sports extremely thin bezels not featured on a laptop before. People can also find a cheaper version sporting a 1920 x 1080 resolution screen.
The extremely thin bezels of the laptop got people comparing to the MacBook Air - only a little bit smaller. According to Business Insider, the edge-to-edge display is impressive. Users can expect the colors to pop out all throughout the Windows interface. Users will also be surprised to see their photos with high resolution and with extreme detailed.
While the display is the main standout feature of the device, Dell also claims that the computer can provide as much as 15 hours of battery life. If this is true then this tops MacBook's 12-hour battery life offering. However, Dell may have to come up with something more if it wants to beat the overall experience of the MacBook Air according to the report. More importantly, it may have to improve its keyboard and build. MacBook comes with an aluminum build best known for its efficiency.
On another note, Apple is not stopping on its quest to offer better products as reports about its 12-inch Retina MacBook Air surface. According to 9to5Mac, the company may be preparing a MacBook update that is so "radical" it may be one of the killer releases of th year. According to the report, Apple plans to go for a design that will change SD card slots, MagSafe connectors and USB ports standards for good.
The upcoming MacBook will reportedly be a hybrid between 13-inch and 11-inch version measuring 12 inches with a slightly narrower build than the 11-inch. Reports indicate that Apple employees have started referring to the device as "MacBook Stealth" because of its extremely portability. Apple will reportedly slim the trackpad down and change the speakers and ports.
The company has not released the final details of the device yet.
