The Manny Pacquiao Vs. Floyd Mayweather, Jr. fight might be finally happening this year and moving an inch closer to reality.
USA Today wrote that the WBO welterweight division champion agreeing to the terms for fighting the undefeated Mayweather as what the Top Rank Chairman Bob Arum disclosed.
The 83-year-old Arum told Yahoo, 'I want get some movements here, with brining Mayweather to the table so we can go out and get everything signed and get the networks together and get the thing finished.'
He added that Mayweather's camp has also agreed to the deal, however, not Mayweather himself. Reportedly, Mayweather will bag a 60-40 split.
According to Christian Post, the two boxers have come to terms that if ever the fight will happen, it will be at the Grand Garden Arena at MGM Grand in Las Vegas where they have both fought other boxers in the past. Pacquiao's record showed that eight out of his last twelve fights took place there while Mayweather's ten subsequent bouts were also held at the same venue.
During his interview with Sky Sports a month ago, the eight-time Filipino world champion said that the money was not the real issue.
"Mayweather can get the amount her wants. I challenged him to a charity fight. Until now, he has not agreed to itg. So, money is not an issue in our fight. This fight is about legacy, this is about making fans happy and above all, this is for the good for boxing," Pacquiao stated.
"We will make an announcement before the end of the month," he said. "I think it will happen."
