We're about to learn a lot more about David Rossi on "Criminal Minds." According to Latin Post, the latest episode of the hit CBS crime show (that episode being "Anonymous," which will air on January 21st on CBS) will dig far deeper into Rossi's personal life than we normally see on the series- starting with a new character, his surprise daughter.
Last season, in an episode titled "Fate," a woman came to Rossi claiming to be his daughter, from a woman Rossi had slept with decades ago. Now, "Anonymous" will delve into this character (named Joy) and her backstory.
According to the episode's official synopsis, "Anonymous" will see Rossi preparing for a weekend visit, to get to know his long-lost daughter. But things won't go as planned, as he learns of the death of an old friend just as he's preparing to see her. Presumably, we'll find out more about what a young Rossi was like with this friend. Potentially, the episode may also flash back to when Rossi was with Joy's mother.
CarterMatt also has the scoop about the February 4th episode of "Criminal Minds," entitled "Hero Worship"- which will apparently see the BAU involved in a coffee shop explosion. Amid the explosion, one person (likely a random civilian) will act heroically and thus put himself in the crossfire from an unsub, forcing the BAU to protect this hero character and his family.
As well, there's a new "Criminal Minds" spin-off being planned by CBS. Enstars reports that the spin-off will star Gary Sinise (himself no stranger to crime shows, having starred in "CSI: NY,") and will follow a "division of the FBI that helps American citizens who find themselves in trouble abroad."
"Criminal Minds" has tried to do the spin-off thing before, with "Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior" in 2011, starring Forest Whitaker. That series was quickly cancelled, but hopefully CBS has a better game plan in mind for this new spin-off (as well as the current "Criminal Minds" crop that stars Joe Mantegna as Rossi).
