Nina Dobrev is trying to be level-headed about the situation, but the 'Vampire Diaries' star may not be ready to send her congratulations to the newly engaged Ian Somerhalder and Nikki Reed. She's devastated when she heard of the news, and it greatly affects her chemistry with Ian in their TV show.
The fans and most probably Nina herself have thought of the possibility that she would marry Ian but nothing can be further from the truth. So congratulating his ex-boyfriend and co-star may be the least thing that can happen for now.
"She didn't congratulate him, and she is not in a rush to do it either," a source reveals to HollywoodLife.
Does that mean that Nina isn't over Ian still? It cannot be ascertained but it could really be too early for her to be really happy for the two of them and there's really no need to. A source told HollywoodLife that she just doesn't want the engagement to relate to her because she thought that that is being 'petty.'
"She is not upset because they don't owe that to her. She doesn't want to act selfish and make their engagement about her, she finds that being petty."
So what about their on-screen romance? What will happen to the love story of Damon and Elena? Celebrity Dirty Laundry reported that their kissing scene on the 11th episode of the 6th season was too awkward for Nina and she hated every part of it. It seems also that the chemistry of the two already evaporated together with their failed real-life romance. There's too much awkwardness and tension between the two.
