George R.R. Martin, the world renowned author of the epic novels under the title "A Song of Ice and Fire" denied the rumors that he sent a countdown message to the release of the latest installment of his novel, "The Winds of Winter". Due to some messages he posted on Twitter, fans mistook it for clues as to when he will release the sixth book.
HBO's TV hit series "Game of Thrones" will reach its fifth season on April 12, reportedly. Being based on Martin's novels, fans worry that due to the delay of release of the book, the series will have no story to tell anymore. And a single question remains: Why can't he finish the book already?
Writer's Block Not the Reason For Delay
So what's the issue, everyone asks.
"Writer's block isn't to blame here, it's distraction. In recent years, all of the work I've been doing creates problems because it creates distraction," Martin addressed the issue. "Because the books and the show are so popular I have interviews to do constantly. I have travel plans constantly. It's like suddenly I get invited to travel to South Africa or Dubai, and who's passing up a free trip to Dubai?" according to Headlines & Global News.
When Will The Novel Come Out? Most Likely 2016
Fans have been waiting patiently for the much-awaited release of the book. Most of them have shot out speculations of when will the book most likely be released to the public.
"The Winds of Winter" might be released earliest at 2016 and 2017 being the latest. Since the release of "A Storm of Swords", the third book in the series line-up, there has been a span of five to six years gap for the release of the following book.
After the third book, came "A Feast for Crown" and in 2011, the fifth book "A Dance with Dragons" surfaced. That is why most of the followers of the epic fantasy novel are crossing their fingers that they won't have to wait much longer to find out what happens next.
