'The Hunger Games' sets box office records with 'Mockingjay 1'; Jennifer Lawrence not keen on ending Katniss Everdeen's quest

By

For two times in a row The Hunger Games film franchise topped all, including big budgeted Marvel series of superheroes, movies in worldwide box office hit. The Jennifer Lawrence-starrer Mockingjay part 1 repeats The Hunger Games: Catching Fire in 2013' history with its triumph to become the highest grossing film of 2014.

In a matter of hundred thousand plus, the Lionsgate's movies outdo the Marvel and Disney's Guardians of Galaxy' $333.17M with its $333.18M score. This is also the second time that American- Canadian film outfit shoos a Marvel movie from the top spot. Going back in 2013, the Girl on Fire's $424.7M earning outstandingly surpassed Ironman 3' $409M.

Another notable record of this film, which features Katniss Everdeen's quest to survival, is so far it's only a female lead movie that grabbed top spot for two consecutive years. This also applies in comparing The Hunger Games' records to other film franchises like Lord of The Rings, Twilight, and Harry Potter that didn't sustain to hold on top 1 position every year during their time.

Mockingjay part 2 will release on November 20 and reportedly, Lawrence couldn't contain her feeling that the film series that catapulted her to stardom will end soon. In her stint in The Interview Magazine together with Eddie Redmayne , JLaw shared her feelings and clues about Mockingjay part 2.

"REDMAYNE: It's over? Wowzer. That's quite intense. That's, like, several years of your life.

LAWRENCE: I know. I'm not happy about it at all.

REDMAYNE: Wait, can't they write some more?

LAWRENCE: I know, right? I would totally do it. And now Liam [Hemsworth]'s doing a movie in Australia for two months. It's the longest that the three of us have ever spent apart. "
