'Downton Abbey' Season 5 Spoilers: Will Lady Mary accept Tony’s marriage proposal? Bates not guilty on Mr. Green's case?

Avid fans of Downton Abbey will be right on the edge of their seats when fourth episode of fifth series returns this Sunday. Spoilers splatter over the net whether Lady Mary (Michelle Dockery) will say yes to Tony Gillingham's (Tom Cullen) marriage proposal.

Back in Sunday's last episode, fans saw Lady Mary was baffled about getting married with Tony, Violet put pressure on Mary getting married, and a prince from Violet's past paid a royal visit at the abbey.

The last episode was viewed as "very sexy and scandalous" of sort opening a sequence with Mary and Tony in bed in a Liverpool hotel. Tony asked her to stay and told her that it shouldn't matter that people will know about their relationship since they're getting married.

Consequently, Violet's butler, Spratt, spotted Mary and Tony at the hotel premises and he told Violet what he saw.

According to the official synopsis, Lady Mary (Michelle Dockery) might make a final decision about Tony Gillingham. Lord Merton (Douglas Reith) delivers a bombshell to Isobel (Penelope Wilton), and Mary does likewise to Tony."

The Downton Abbey Season 5 spoilers reported foretell that the two surprises have to do with their romantic relationships where one moves it up a notch while the other will have a setback.

And as for Anna (Joanne Froggatt) and Bates (Brendan Coyle), a romantic plot is nowhere in sight. The released teaser hints further, "Police suspicions deepen in an unexplained death."

It's much more likely that as the investigation progresses, the police might uncover clues that will lead them to Downton, although, Bates will no longer be seen as a suspect to Mr. Green's murder case.

Meanwhile, Sarah Bunting (Daisy Lewis) will also be seen in the next episode. Apparently, her role won't simply be friendly lessons Daisy (Sophie McShera) or mere flirting with Tom Branson (Allen Leech). She'll be seen in almost every episode to tick off Lord Grantham (Hugh Bonneville) after what happened previously at dinner during the premiere and in episode 3.

Downton Abbey Season 5 episode 4 airs this Sunday, January 25 at 9pm EST on PBS.
